Your story matters...
My Approach
I’m a counsellor offering a warm, gentle and non-judgemental space for people who have been hurt within faith communities or are trying to make sense of the impact of religious trauma, church hurt or spiritual abuse.
I believe you deserve to be heard and believed without judgement. You should be able to talk about anger, disappointment, doubt, loss, betrayal or questions about faith without being told what you should think or feel. My role isn’t to tell you what to believe or where your journey should take you. It is to offer a safe, compassionate space where you can explore what has happened and begin to understand what you need now.
I offer in-person counselling in a cosy room in Hereford, or online.
About me.....
This work is personal to me. I spent more than 30 years deeply involved in church, including over 12 years as a church leader. Through my own experience, I came to understand how difficult it can be to find somewhere to talk honestly about the pain, confusion and questions that can arise when a place that was meant to offer safety and belonging has instead caused harm. I found there was very little space to process those experiences without being encouraged to simply have more faith, forgive, move on, or remain silent. That experience was one of the reasons I chose to become the kind of counsellor I once needed.
I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling and have completed over 150 hours of supervised counselling practice. My training has included areas such as trauma, attachment, abuse and grief. I am a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and the Association for Christian Counsellors.
I bring both professional training and lived experience to this work, while recognising that every person’s story is different. I won’t assume I know what you’ve been through. I will listen, ask questions, and make space for your experience to be heard in its own right.
Above all, I want you to know this: what you have experienced does not determine your worth. You are not too much, your story matters, and nothing you share with me changes your inherent value as a person.

I offer warm, compassionate counselling for people who have experienced church hurt, religious trauma or spiritual abuse, or who are struggling with the impact of difficult experiences within faith or a faith community.
I offer a cosy ground floor room in Hereford with free onsite parking with toilet facilities and an onsite cafe.

Coming to counselling can feel like a big step. You might know exactly what you want to talk about, or you might feel that something just isn't right. Either way, you don't have to have it worked out before you come.
I offer person-centred counselling, which means I will meet you where you are at, without judgement or expectations. I believe that having the time and space to be genuinely heard can make a real difference.
Our sessions take place in person, in a comfortable and private office where you can take some time away from the demands of everyday life and focus on yourself.
I'm a warm and compassionate person and listening is at the heart of how I work. I won't tell you what to do, or try to fit you into a particular way of thinking. Instead, I shall be alongside you, helping you explore whatever feels important to you, at a pace that feels right for you.
You may want to talk about something that has happened, explore difficult emotions, understand yourself or your relationships more deeply, or simply have somewhere to say the things you don't feel able to say elsewhere.
You don't have to know where to begin. You just need to bring yourself.
Together, we can create a space where you feel safe, heard and accepted for who you are. My hope is that, over time, counselling can help you feel more connected to yourself and more able to navigate life in a way that feels right to you.

Cancellation Policy
Confidentiality Policy
If you need to cancel your appointment, I kindly ask for 24 hours notice.
If you need to cancel with less than 24 hours notice, the full session fee will normally apply, as your appointment time has been reserved especially for you.
I appreciate that sometimes unexpected things happen, so please get in touch if you are unable to attend. We can talk about what happened and take it from there.
What you share with me is treated as confidential and with respect. I will not share your personal information or what you discuss in your sessions without your consent, except in circumstances where I have a professional or legal responsibility to do so, such as when there is a risk of harm to you or someone else.
I will always aim to be as open as possible with you about any situation where confidentiality might need to be considered.
How do I know that counselling is right for me?
You don’t need to be at breaking point or have everything figured out before starting counselling. It may be right for you if something is weighing on you, you feel stuck, or you’d like a safe space to explore thoughts and feelings you haven’t been able to share elsewhere. You don’t need to know exactly what you need help with—sometimes knowing that things don’t feel right is enough. Counselling offers an opportunity to slow down, make sense of your experiences and be heard without judgement. If you’re wondering whether counselling might help, that may be reason enough to explore it.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes, counselling is confidential. Unless I am concerned that harm is going to come to you or someone else, in which case I am legally and professionally obliged to disclose it. If this happens, I will aim to be as open with you as possible.
How many sessions will I need?
Our sessions are open ended in terms of number of sessions. Some people are happy with a few, others prefer to keep coming over months and years. We will regularly review progress and suitability together. When counselling comes to an end, it is good to be able to have a final session where we can reflect on the work done and celebrate your progress.
How long is a session?
Sessions are 50 minutes long.
How often do we meet?
Usually we meet weekly, but this can be adjusted to suit your needs.
Do I have to talk about everything?
This is your time to use how you wish. You can talk about as much or as little as you want. You don't have to share anything unless you are ready to. I may ask questions, but you don't have to answer them.
What happens if I need to cancel?
If you need to cancel, I kindly ask for 24 hours notice for a session fee not to be incurred, as your session time is set aside especially for you. You can email me to cancel.
If you are running late to a session, you have the same time slot allocated to you, so your session will be shorter on that occasion.
I understand that life sometimes happens unexpectedly, so please do get in touch and we can sort something out.
